The Creative WOOF 3 Bluetooth speaker is a highly compact travel Bluetooth speaker which offers premium features at an affordable price while still maintaining a high level of audio quality.
Built with portability in mind, the WOOF 3 Bluetooth speaker fits easily in the palm of your hands and has a few surprising feature as you will discover in my Creative WOOF 3 Bluetooth speaker review below.
WOOF 3 Design
Boasting a “tea cup” design, the WOOF 3 Bluetooth speaker measure in at 2.95 x 2.55 x 2.67 inches and weighs in at 8.04 ounces making it ideal for use when you’re out and about.
When viewed from the top, the speaker has a chrome finished speaker grille with the Bluetooth pairing/speakerphone button in the middle for answering calls and connecting your devices.
The base of the WOOF 3 has a white plastic finish which complements the rest of the high gloss metallic finish of the speaker. At the rear of the base are the input options, this includes the USB charging port, microSD slot, reset button and a 3.5mm input for your older non-Bluetooth devices.
The remaining buttons which are the skip forward/volume up, play/pause and the skip back/volume down are located at the right side of the base (when viewed from the front) and the power switch is at the bottom of the base.
Audio extension: MP3/FLAC Player
Via a microSD slot at the base, the Creative WOOF 3 Bluetooth Speaker Review model offers an extra premium-audio option which will be of interest to all music fans. First of all, it’s another way to preserve your precious smartphone battery because you just insert a microSD card containing a selection of your music favourites and hit play.
What’s more, this connection allows you to enjoy playback of standard audio formats like MP3/WMA, but importantly, you get access to the ultra-high-quality formats WAV/FLAC too. These premium formats offer a ‘lossless’ audio listening experience, so you’ll enjoy enhanced music playback.
This slot also serves as a microSD card reader which means it’s a convenient way to effect data, video, and music transfers to and from your laptop or PC.
Like many smaller Bluetooth speakers, the diminutive Woof 3 features an ‘oversized bass radiator’ to give more rumble and general bass presence to its audio output. As a result, this palm-sized performer with a powerful 45-mm driver does a decent job of delivering enough audio to fill the majority of living spaces with undistorted sound, whilst also preserving the balance and colour of your music tracks.
Audio streaming is handled via Bluetooth 2.1 and uses the Bluetooth A2DP protocol designed for streaming wireless stereo sound. Beyond this, the Woof 3 also has a serviceable onboard microphone to enable hands-free calls.
The Woof 3 has an undeniably rich set of connectivity features: Bluetooth 2.1 is available for audio streaming and is also optimised for low power consumption; a microSD card slot facilitates access to external digital music files; micro USB connectivity also allows convenient charging and access to PC music sources; and in addition, a 3.5-mm aux input is available for a cabled connection to non-Bluetooth music devices.
Offering six hours of music playback and a speakerphone facility too, the Woof 3 has more than enough pathways to support a connected lifestyle.

My experience with the Creative WOOF 3
The Creative WOOF 3 Bluetooth speaker was sent to me for my honest review (thanks Joe) and having had other Creative products in the past I can confirm that the WOOF 3 does the Creative name justice in every department.
I’m a huge fan of portable speakers that offer MicroSD support, so right after unboxing the WOOF 3 I had a MicroSD card in with a few of my favourite tracks. As expected the built-in MP3 player worked straight out the box, literally just plug and play.
Connecting my iPad to the WOOF 3 only took a few seconds and once connected I had it running on full volume for about 4 hours and didn’t encounter any stutters or dropouts which is always a good thing.
The sound quality of this Bluetooth speaker is quite impressive; it’s definitely loud enough to fill a small to medium room which is a bit surprising considering the small footprint of the WOOF 3. Spoken words remained clear and undistorted even at max volume and there was also enough bass for me to listen comfortably.
It seems that the WOOF 3 Bluetooth speaker has received mixed reviews from the online community; it’s worth mentioning that this portable speaker is not meant to replace any dedicated setup, instead it’s billed as a portable travel speaker you can chuck in your bag and take on the road and in my opinion it fits this purpose perfectly.
